SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS

Mr. Mansuy retired in June 2002 from Kipling School after 27 years serving as a Physical Education teacher which was his dream job. In his final years at Kipling School he was a well-respected administrator as both vice-principal and principal. John’s second home was the Kipling Gymnasium or any sports field. He led Kipling School and always set high standards for his students and staff. All who had the pleasure to work with or be taught by him viewed him as a role model and someone to look up to. His calm approach and compassion for his students brought out the best in everyone. John was passionate about sport and everything it represents. Playing, coaching or watching, he was a huge fan of soccer, hockey, football, baseball and so much more. He coached hundreds of teams over the years – no matter what the outcome, he was always so proud. He inspired everyone he met, taught or coached in some way. Everyone was treated with the same fatherly love and respect. His kind personality and helping nature were evident in the countless hours he selflessly gave to Kipling School and the community while never expecting anything in return.

In 1992 John received the Paul Renwick Award for his outstanding contribution to physical education in Saskatchewan. He was also instrumental in Kipling School receiving numerous Quality Daily Physical Education awards over the years for the physical education and athletics programs he ran.

Established in 2019 in memory of Mr. John Mansuy, a memorial scholarship will be offered to one graduating student of Kipling High School each year. This award celebrates those students who have made a conscious effort to improve and contribute to the school and their community. It will be awarded to a student enrolling in a post-secondary education program. Preference will be given to students pursuing a Bachelor of Education. Selection will be made on the basis of academic excellence and demonstrated leadership in extracurricular and/or volunteer activities within the school or community. Student qualities will include those living a healthy lifestyle, participating in the school’s extracurricular program, giving back to the school or community through volunteering and playing the game the right way – with hard work, commitment, passion, respect for the rules and respect for opponents. All of these values and ideals were the way John lived his life.
